EU Ambassador supports the action of saving the Leuser Ecosystem




The Ambassador for European Union, Olof Skoog, will visit Aceh on the coming 16 June 2014. The purpose of the ambassador's visit is to discuss about the occuring social and environmental in Aceh (Leuser Ecosystem). One of the main discussion subject is the Islamic Sharia. 

Accompanying Olof will be a number of accredited EU member countries. "At least seven ambassadors of EU member countries will come with Olof. Among others are Germany, Italy and Czhech Republic," said Meta Amalia from the event's committee during an interview with Journalist, on Friday, 13 June 2014.

They, she said, will meet with the Governor of Aceh Zaini Abdullah, the Vice Governor Muzakir Manaf and representatives of the Provincial Parliament. The ambassadors are scheduled for a two-day visit in Aceh and will also meet with a number of human rights and environmental activists. 

"The meeting will be held at the Tsunami Museum of Aceh," she said. 

Meta Amalia, representing the event's committee, said that Aceh will remain the source of serius polemic and debates for international community. Among others because of the history of Aceh as part of Indonesia, violation of human right without any prosecution, tsunami, exploitation of natural resources, and the majority of moslem influencing local law. 

"These are the subjects that will be discussed by the Ambassadors of the European Union during their visit in Aceh.
